[Now Hiring] Contract IT Systems Administrator

Our Mission: Bring biblical clarity and daily guidance to people seeking God in a chaotic world.

Before applying, review Core of the Heart https://coreoftheheart.com/ and Johnny Chang's content.

Location: Remote, with the ability to coordinate with someone on-site when physical access is needed

Type: Independent Contractor, project-based with ongoing support as needed

Department: Operations

YOUR ROLE

Every video we publish starts as footage that must be stored safely and put in an editor's hands. When files are lost or difficult to access, the work stops before it can reach anyone.

You will own the reliability of our existing 10-bay QNAP NAS and its connection to Dropbox Business. The NAS holds our long-term footage archive. Dropbox holds the active projects our editors and global team need. Your job is to keep that system secure, organized, and easy to maintain.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Keep the QNAP NAS healthy and make sure the storage is configured correctly.

• Establish a clear workflow for moving active projects into Dropbox and returning completed work to the NAS.

• Give approved team members secure remote access when they need files from the archive.

• Review permissions and administrator access so the right people can reach the right files.

• Create an independent second backup for footage that cannot be replaced, then prove that files can be restored.

• Document the setup, recovery process, and account ownership so the company is never dependent on one contractor.

• Provide ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting after the initial cleanup is complete.

WHAT WE'D LIKE TO COMPLETE IN THE FIRST MONTH

• Review the current NAS, Dropbox, and network setup and provide a written summary of what needs to be fixed.

• Complete the approved work and show that files can move between the NAS and Dropbox and be accessed remotely when needed.

• Document the finished setup, agree on a separate backup plan, and test a file restore once that backup is in place.

THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF

• You only work on a retainer basis and don't have an hourly rate.

• You are flaky with communication and availability.

• You're unable to document your work.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience building and maintaining business network systems

• Experience building storage systems that work with cloud platforms, including NAS devices and services such as Dropbox

COMPENSATION AND HOW TO APPLY

To apply, please send:

• Your hourly rate (please include the currency).

• A Loom video (3 minutes max) explaining why you're a good fit for this role and whether you're available for ongoing work.

• Clear proof of relevant work. Share a link to one or two examples of network or storage systems you've built or maintained, and say what you personally did. A redacted write-up or diagram is fine.

We're looking for long-term support. If we work well together for three to four months, we're open to discussing a reasonable monthly retainer.
